Whose Pizza reigns supreme? -The DIY Pizza Party a.k.a. The Iron Pizza Chef.

So for everyone who have read my first post, you all knew that I did a Sayonara 24 birthday shoot. I had just turned 25 recently and had lots of fun celebrating.

The celebration extended to roughly a week. Usually my cousins, Joy and Kristel, and I conduct a joint birthday party on a weekend after our birthday since the dates are in succession.

Ate Joy and I both share a passion for baking, to the point that Ate Joy helped me out and volunteered to be the food stylist for the photoshoot of the best-selling pastries and cakes of Sweetstuff Supplies and Services, Inc (SSSI). Months ago we decided to do a Do-it-yourself pizza party in hopes that everybody would get-involved and design their own pizza.

Much as I wanted to get everyone do a hands-on on making pizza from scratch, due to time constraints I decided to prepare the dough, the toppings and the garlicky-chunky tomato sauce ahead of time so that the time would be shortened to just designing their own pizza and baking. Kuya Paolo, Ate Joy’s husband, prepared the Pesto Sauce using the leaves I harvested from my basil plant, Basilio (and yes, I name my plants as well!) 🙂

It ended up as sort of a mini-competition to see whose Pizza reign supreme (sounded familiar right?) 😉 as suggested by my uncle in Ireland who asked for the pictures of the party since he, my aunt, and our youngest cousin, Mika, wouldn’t be able to attend.

It was decided upon creativity, pizza genius and overall taste, that my niece Sophia aced the competition fair and square with her dessert chocolate pizza, loaded with lots of melted milk chocolate sauce, bits of dark chocolate and, guess what, chunks of white Toblerone cut into smaller pieces with additional Hershey’s chocolate sauce for the finale… It was my childhood dream *sniffs*, thanks Sophia for making my dream come true *sniffs*.

Everyone participated, and we had round two on the succeeding day upon Mama’s request. Everyone enjoyed making and eating our masterpieces and what makes them extra delicious was not only the fact that everything was made freshly from scratch (my favorite being made from my precious Basilio, the pesto sauce) but also the fact that the pizzas created were catered to everyone’s preference be it Sophia’s chocolate pizza or Mama’s pineapple overload pizza.

Ate Joy and I are planning for a DIY Calzones and Empanadas party sometime but I think I want to make the DIY Pizza Party  an annual event/competition!

Until next post!
